Theatre personality Addanda C Cariappa took over as president of the Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy as a simple function held in the Academy office in the presence of other members and registrar on Thursday, March 29 .
Speaking on the occasion, Cariappa said that during his tenure he would do his best towards the development of Kodava language, art, culture, literature, folklore and theatre with the help of all members, and with consultation with all experts in the district. He also promised to ensure transparency in the management of the Academy and emphasis on publication of as many literary works as possible.
Zilla panchayat president Shanteyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Bhagandeshwara temple committee president Manu Muttappa, Ravi Basappa, Napand Ravi Kalappa, MUDA chairman Shajil Krishna, Shakti daily editor-in-chief G Rajendra, former president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishat T P Ramesh, Scouts and Guides district commissioner K T Baby Mathew and others visited the Academy office and felicitated Addanda Cariappa and other members.
New members of the Academy, Chendira Nirmala Bopanna, Bottolanda Mittu Poonacha, Charmanda Poovaiah, Kudiyara Tammaiah, Kasturi Govindammaiah, Chendanda Sumi Subbaiah, Nelapanda A Ramesh and Uma Prabhu were present on the occasion.
