Alert Forest Department staff put out a ground fire and prevented it from escalating to a major conflagration at the Anechowkur range of the Nagarahole National Park on Sunday. The fire was noticed at Sulagodu in the Anechowkur range adjoining a teak plantation. The Forest Department staff swung into action and doused the flames. K.D. Belliappa, who is in charge of the Nagarahole National Park, said the fire destroyed dry vegetation in the teak plantation spread over 15 acres.
