One arrested for forest fire

In a filmy style, Nagarahole tiger reserve authorities have arrested a tribal youth for allegedly destroying forest habitat by setting fire here recently.
This could be a lead forest authorities to nab miscreants, who have cause havoc in the reserve forests since a year.
ACF K D Belliappa, who is in-charge director of Nagarahole, told TOI Ravi (22) of Kunteri Haadi, near Sollepura in Veeranahosalli range of Nagarahole, was found moving inside the reserve forest suspiciously on Tuesday. Forest officials and guards who were on regular patrol took him to custody on suspicion and during questioning Ravi made a startling revelation.
According to Belliappa, Ravi, a tribal, has told them that he was given Rs 500 by three persons to put fire inside the forest. Following which he set fire near Sollepura on Monday. Belliappa confirmed a fire was noticed on a road side and they doused it immediately. The ACF said about 10 cents of land was destroyed in fire.
Ravi has been booked for trespass and destruction of forest habitat under Wildlife protection Act. He has been remanded to judicial custody. Ravi has revealed names of three persons and we are investigating into it, Belliappa stated.
